Artist Statement

​

 I enjoy making art and I feel it is a fundamental way for me put my inner world onto paper. The largest part of my work is inspired by my surroundings and through the places I have been to in various parts of Kenya. Travelling has played an important role in my life, and it changed the way I look at the world. In some cases it made me interested in culture, especially my own. I like to try to visualize things in a different perspective from others. Most of my work is based or involves the use of natural objects /nature, this is I feel influenced from the surrounding I was brought up in.

However I don’t set out to produce art about one subject matter. I draw objects and places that intrigue me, or in some cases concepts from inside my head. Of which I later apply drawings into 3d objects. I try to observe ordinary scenes and see both color and beauty in them. From time to time my work is influenced by my feelings and my mood. When I work, I set off with an overall idea of what I am aiming for but in most cases I let it evolve naturally.

My imagination has always been an incredible driving force in my life, and has and still does have influence on almost everything I do. It has always been the most natural and easiest way for me to express myself. I am a person who likes to observe people and I am aware of my surroundings. This makes me pay attention to detail.
